O.K.

The phrase "OK" comes from American English and is used as equivalent to the traditional "agree", "is good" or "ok" to indicate compliance, commonly used as a quick response. It is used as an adjective and an adverb. Frequently mentioned in the popular etymology as of unknown origin, the origin of the term was clearly demonstrated by the American lexicographer and etymologist Allen Walker Read in 1963.
