Nasa Mercury Era Helmet

We've been inspired (aka slightly obsessed) with vintage NASA here in the office as long as I can remember. It's a common bond that comes up all the time stemming from too many years of binging sci-fi and dreaming of the stars. As its the start of World Space Week today we're sharing the things that inspire us.

The Mercury helmets were based on the Navy's Mark IV helmet. They were made scratch-built pieces of functional art. I'm obsessed to think these imperfectly handmade pieces of epoxy resin and fiberglass allowed a team to push their limits and quite literally reach new heights.
