Editorial illustration based on the sermon

Every Monday, I draw an editorial illustration for a local church where I attend and manage their website. It is really fun to create an illustration based on the sermon, the Bible and I enjoy sharing my talents to transfer his message visually.

This time, the pastor sermoned about the religious pressure based on the Galatians and quoted Hermann Hesse's "beneath the wheel."

I visualized his sermon by showing Hans (compare to Galatians) beneath the wheel and light comes from behind to make a wheel look dark and very heavy atmosphere. In front of him, Abraham (or the Jesus) is spreading his arms to save him (Galatian people) of commandments which depriving the freedom of faith, the joy of faith.
