3cm Touch Targets

Trying to make sense of the rumored new iPod nano 3cm x 3cm screen. At the same ppi as the iPhone 3GS, this works out to be right around 192px square -- leaving room for 36 32x32 touch targets. The size of these targets lines up pretty nicely with Apple's recommended minimum: 29x44.

So as tiny as the rumored screen sounds, it actually should work fine.

(If you want to assume this will be a retina display -- I think that's unlikely -- then pretend it's a 384x384 screen with 64x64 touch targets. The physical size of the targets would be the same.)
