Escape My Room - logomark

Initial sketches for Escape My Room logomark. The client knew they wanted to keep their original monkey in a fez with a spyglass, but it needed to be more scalable than the existing version without isolating parts of the combination mark in a way that might dilute their overall branding (see attachments for how they used the monkey previously).

I experimented with different levels of ornament, and different monkey shapes and poses. Since we planned to use the logomark as a favicon for their website, the client chose to move forward with a very clean, simplified version that would be the most scalable for display at small sizes.

Escape My Room is an escape room company in New Orleans. Founded in July 2014, they opened their first escape room in June 2015. A team of 18 expert artists, producers, actors, writers, and designers help craft each experience.

They approached Clio + Calliope late last year hoping to refresh their brand and website to match the immersive experience of their escape rooms, which incorporate New Orleans history and have a distinctive vintage, mysterious feel.

We refreshed their logo and redesigned their site with tactile, ornate design elements that draw inspiration from 20th century Mardi Gras ball invitations, old storybooks, and vintage advertising.
