Northwestern Mutual | The Design Genome Project
It's that time again – a new report for The Design Genome Project and new illustration we wanted to share!
This week, we added Northwestern Mutual to the list of companies growing by embracing design. Cross-company collaboration, including inter-department workshops and employee empathy training, fueled rapid growth for the respected financial institution’s design team—to the tune of 10x in just two years.
To help bring the report to life, we commissioned super-talented illustrator Ranganath Krishnamani, to realize the idea of “growing design collaboratively,” and we think he nailed it with this design system garden scene. Really inspiring work.
Equally inspiring is that this 160-year-old institution is embracing design and a digital future while realizing its products can still convey that brand trust they’ve earned over the years.

P.S. If you haven’t already, you can also check out the other reports (and illustrations!) from Herman Miller, Pinterest, Capital One, and more.
