Rosies Invade the Yard Logo

This is an event logo I created for National Parks of Boston's annual event "Rosies Invade the Yard." This year it was used primarily on stickers, tattoos, and a cool half mural by Dry Dock 1.

I wanted to take the profile of one of the "SWONs" (Shipbuilding Women of the Navy) and portray her as wicked strong/tough as nails Navy Yard worker, while also keeping her feminine. My NPS sponsor said she is "fierce" – which sounded about right.

The welding helmet had the most striking profile of the welding garb so I went with that, and have it breaking the logo frame to add some energy to it. I have her clad in overalls with her sleeves rolled up.
