Thirty Logos Design Challenge - Day 8 - Sparked

This logo is for Sparked, "a video game news website featuring the latest news in all video games, esports, and tech." The "client" wanted elements of fire in the logo.

My idea for the design of the graphic in this logo came from the word "competition". E-Sports are fiercely competitive so I made two opposing fireballs of energy swirling around a spark, representing the essence of competition. The "S" looking shape around the spark (created by the black space between the fireballs) is also a happy little accident of the design.
