Royal Palace of Madrid
These are a series of illustrations I did based on my travels through Spain. I've created three illustrations per city visited.
City 6: Madrid
And now onto the final city of our Spain trip: Madrid! This city just never stops, and I mean that in ever sense of the word. While most of the other cities we visited felt like they were living in a time warp bubble, the evolution of Madrid is evident every time you turn around. It’s a fusion of the old and the new, appearing ancient and rustic while at the same time modern and forward thinking. But it’s been that way it’s entire life (yes, cities have lives, tell me I’m wrong :P). This was most evident in the royal palace where each decadent room was modeled and fashioned based on the current trends. Rococo and Gothic may seem old now, but at the time they were cutting edge. This city has a foot in the past and an eye on the future, and the result is fascinating.
