Tulsa Flag entry

This was my personal favorite among several entrees to the new Tulsa Flag contest last year. As with most well designed flags, there is a lot of meaning that is not obvious to the uninformed.

The blue and amber colors we're repeated from the Oklahoma flag to show the direct connection.

The black represents Tulsa's undeniable connection to oil and the success it has brought the city.

The three amber bars represent the tragic race riots. One bar per one hundred people that died.

All together, the composition has strong Art Deco look, which is an art and architectural style that Tulsa is well known for.
