The Watts Riots badges

I wanted to juxtapose this infamous time in American history against our obsession with sports.

The layout is based on a graphic from the Clash. The skull is from Damien Hirst. The term ‘Blood Brother’ was painted on Black businesses and storefronts by their owners in efforts to deter rioters from looting. The gesture of easing three fingers done in the same vein. The loots is modeled after the Heisman trophy. ‘65’ is in reference to the 1965 when the riots occurred.
