Questions That Spark More Questions
Thoughts on the 2017 design census

The AIGA Design Census from 2017 has been on my mind. Over 13,000 designers responded and as such it can be a gateway to understanding the current state of the design industry.

With huntgather’s focus on diversity, there was a lens through which I was looking at the data. There were questions. And once those questions were answered it just left me with more questions.

By creating data visualizations of the questions I tried to answer, I hope they serve as a catalyst for discussion around diversity, equity and belonging in the design industry.

Keep in mind this data is not the end all be all and is incomplete in many ways. I’m viewing the data as anecdotal and I hope you do the same.
