Pretty In Pink

As a fan of John Hughes films I decided I wanted to create something to show my appreciation. Molly Ringwald’s role in Pretty in Pink is one of the best teen movie performances I’ve seen to date. She’s relatable, strong, and vulnerable without compromising her values. At the same time...she’s learning and growing as all flawed humans do. This is a vector piece created in Illustrator. I referenced a screen grab from the film itself in one of the most pivotal scenes near the end of the movie. The expression on her face is one of longing and yet disguises a bit of hope beneath the surface as she fearfully enters her prom alone not knowing what will happen next.
