Woodtype Revival

This a newspaper I designed for a project about healthcare and the opioid crisis. The lettering is my digital revival of an old die-cut wood type from 1887. The name is No. 500 and it was designed by William H. Page and his CD partner, George Setchell. I built out the entire alphabet in caps, based on print specimens and an example of the actual font. I used some classic sign-painter techniques with the styling.
