Mutt Hutt TV, a channel dedicated to dogs, for the whole family to enjoy. While DOG TV (a channel whose target audience is dogs themselves) and Animal Planet exist, there are surprisingly no channels on TV dedicated to a man’s best friend. Dogs are part of the lives of most Americans - 73% of pet owners in this country have a dog. Dog shows, such as the recent Puppy Bowl, set new viewer rating records each year and help draw attention to shelter dogs that need homes.

Mutt Hutt TV is a channel dedicated to providing American household wholesome entertainment while informing the audience about our furry companions. Many shows will include various dogs around the world who are in shelters and need a home, so our channel will focus on shining the spotlight on these dogs to find them a home. All of the entertainment will be appropriate and wholesome enough for even the youngest of viewers, and we hope the whole family gathers around for it.

According to ASPCA, 3.3 million dogs enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year, and 1.6 million of them are adopted. This statistic shows that while so many people own dogs and have dogs as a major part of their everyday life, there are still so many dogs that need a home. With dog-centered TV specials such as the recent Puppy Bowl on animal planet, people are able to see adoptable dogs from all over the country (and even outside of the country) and they can adopt them. Past that, Mutt Hutt TV will have channels dedicated to educating the new dog owner on the dos and don’ts of dog training. The channel will have shows that inform about health, personalities, and tips about different dog breeds. Overall, the channel will work to benefit both the shelter crisis across the country and entertain and inform current dog owners.

A print advertisement would be most successful in a pet magazine as well as National Geographic. National Geographic has a kid’s subscription where an ad like this could do very well because an entertained child will likely show the ad to their parents. Pawprints Magazine is focused on finding homes for adoptable pets, so they would welcome advertising for this channel as well.

Communication Elements: Digital ads, print ads (in pet, home, and wild animal magazines,) posters (on bulletin boards and in subways in major cities) and billboards.
