Narrative Illustration

Narrative fiction often run in publications such as The Atlantic, McSweeny's and The New Yorkers. This is a full page illustration based off the short story We Didn't Like Him by Akhil Sharma, published in The New Yorker (June 3, 2013). The challenge was to figure out how to go about capturing the story (drawing focus to a pivotal moment in the story? Visually representing the point of view of a specific character? Representing the entire story in a single image?) The task was to visually represent the story so that the reader may be able to understand what it is about at a glance.
