Echoes of Arabia: Coffee
Excerpt from our Saudi Aramco's 'Echoes Of Arabia' diary:
The earliest written accounts of drinking coffee are linked with worshipers in the mid-15th century, who used coffee to stay awake at night to perform their prayers. They are the ones who introduced this beverage to Makkah and Madinah and from there coffee and coffee houses took off. So the next time you are at your local café, sipping an espresso from your demitasse cup (from the Arabic ‘tazza’ for cup) you are also carrying on a time honored Arabian tradition. 🇦🇪☕️
