Exploring over a century of extinction.

Over the last few months I've been busy researching and designing a data visualization about extinction, which I'm really excited to share.

In response to warnings that we are entering a sixth extinction I was curious; what animals went extinct in the last century and why? Can we identify the destructive forces of the past, and how do they compare to the challenges that lie ahead?

The finished project lists every animal declared as extinct by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) since 1900 and attempts to quantify the threats that led to their demise.

Please see attached for a high res version of the full visualization.
