SURJ MoCo Brand Identity

SURJ MoCo is a chapter of SURJ National representing Montgomery County in Maryland. SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice) uses advocacy and education to help build a racially just society, mobilizing the public to undermine support of white supremacy.

SURJ MoCo requested a brand identity that embodied inclusivity and demonstrated strength in a welcoming and accessible manor.

The Logo

The selected logo design is based upon a Borromean knot, a strong knot comprising three non-intersecting loops. These three loops represent legislative campaigns, direct action and education. The red/orange, marigold and purple color palette highlight the group’s strength, inclusivity and goals in public education.
