Willys MB Jeep

I have a deep and abiding love of Jeeps. I always have. So I figured I'd feature these for "Jeep Week," which I just made up.

Jeep week begins with the one that started it all: the Willys MB. Made by Willys-Overland Motors for the U.S government in WW2. Originally called the MA for Military Model A, it changed to the MB after it incorporated design features from Ford, who designed their own version and helped manufacture these during the war.

Curiously, there is no consensus on why they started being referred to as "Jeeps" as that term pre-dates these vehicles. Although when Ford began producing them they were designated "GP", G=Government P=Passenger car.

My grandpa had one of these that he used on the farm for getting across vast, rough patches of land quickly. Easy to fix and super reliable, it still runs to this day.
