Country Icons

If you saw my last post, you saw some of these country icons in action. For that project, I decided to add this kind of icon because the team wanted the user to find more interest in different projects from around the world. Our elderly users ate it up.

This, of course, means I committed to putting together an icon set with every country in the world... I thought I'd post about it while it's still interesting. I have a long way to go!

A couple of things I've learned:
1. It is SO MUCH HARDER to identify a country without scale
2. You have to be very organized to create an icon set this large
3. Some people can't tell China's silhouette from Norway's
4. The borders of a lot of countries are very squiggly and require a lot of anchor points. (Don't fret, there aren't that many countries without free resources. I'm not tracing all of these)
