Logo Work
Final touches for a client logo. The inspiration for this shape was the tassle on my backpack, which I sketched into an early version (see attachments). I then began the process of turning that into a vector design. That involves live trace in Illustrator. But the final shapes are redrawn by hand because live trace often isn't very good. The guiding lines help keep the internal logic of the calligraphic strokes sane, but in the end it's up to the eye to determine the final adjustments.
In the final version, the demi-circle that envelopes the mark is not used. It is only used when the logo acts as a seal on official documents.
I also do miss the early days on Dribbble when we'd post rough work like this. I find it much more valuable and interesting than the polished doilies we tend to post nowadays.
