Established in 1862, Cafe Du Monde in the French Market is a world renowned open-air coffee shop and New Orleans landmark that claims to have the best café au lait and beignets around. Translated from French, Cafe Du Monde means "Cafe of the World." Cafe Du Monde is currently open 24/7, 364 (sans Christmas of course.)

The location was originally built by the Spanish is 1791 and called "The Butcher's Hall." It was damaged by a hurricane in 1812 and rebuilt shortly thereafter.
