The MoMA PS1
Everyone probably knows the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) of New York City, but what about MoMA PS1? MoMA PS1 is an innovative space dedicated to experimental and contemporary art located in the borough of Queens. It’s part of the Museum of Modern Art since 2000 and is a little out of the way but who said you should not think outside the box when exploring the city?
MoMA PS1 displays artworks of emerging and international artists using all kind of mediums to share their ideas and creativity. By chance, one of the James Turrell’ Skyspaces installations named Meeting, is ongoing through October 2017 there. “A Turrell Skyspace is a specifically proportioned chamber with an aperture in the ceiling open to the sky.”
I’ve loved James Turrell artworks since I have discovered the amazing Open Sky (2004) in the Chichu Art Museum in Naoshima Island (Japan). He is a Californian artist playing with light and space, creating sensory illusions to bring you dazzling emotions. Well, I can’t say too much, you really have to experience it by yourself…
MoMA PS1, 22-25 Jackson Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101.
