Save Yerkes Observatory

www.save-yerkes.com #saveyerkes So my hometown of Williams Bay is the location of the world’s largest refracting telescope. The Yerkes Observatory, is hands-down the most iconic building in the Geneva Lake area and can be seen above the treeline on the north shore from out on the water. Every day at the west end of the lake is spent with it in view. The University of Chicago has announced plans to end operations for this facility in Oct. which puts it in danger of being torn down and developed because of its proximity to the lake. A petition has been started at the link above that I urge you to go sign if you love yerkes, Geneva Lake or space in general. My hometown wouldn’t be the same without it and neither would a day on the lake. Thanks!
