Google Puppeteer Colour Tests

Once you have a palette picked out it's usually worth doing a round of testing different combinations of how to apply them.

Blocking out basic shapes in Illustrator lets you play with this sort of thing really easily.
I usually export to Photoshop after this stage – much easier to refine shapes and get into more nuanced details there.
But illustrator wins for quick drafts.
