Fried Noodles

Almost 5 years ago I started The Fellowship of the Fryer. It started as a handful of guys getting together to play video games, and deep fry some tasty food. Since then, it’s evolved into a monthly ritual. Once a month 10-20 guys pack my 400 square foot apartment, chatting about their lives, playing games, and eating fried goodies, while all wearing matching t-shirts with our logo. It’s created a community around this dumb little idea I had when I was 19, and in the meantime It’s also become somewhat of a creative outlet for me!

I’ve found that the best way to stay creative and make better work for your clients, is to make stuff for you, outside of work. Every month I do up a lettering piece and illustration to go with the theme we’ve chosen for the Fellowship of the Fryer that month.

This month not only did we fry pasta, we also streamed the whole evening for the world to see over on twitch. Pasta Night Live.

Cool things can come from what seem like stupid, meaningless ideas. Go find a stupid idea and see it out. Like drawing pasta swimming in a deep fryer, or inviting a bunch of smelly dudes into your living room to eat onion rings. I think cool things will probably happen ;)
