I don't really believe in maintaining a single vertical rhythm throughout a site, as CSS doesn't really allow for it without sacrificing some core legibility and typography rules, and even then, much can go awry. Instead, if you try and aim for solid type setting with localized vertical-rhythm, you can produce content that will work well in your layouts while still having a user's best interests paramount — readability.
