She Who Mauls - Beer Can Design Challenge
This month's Simple Focus Design Challenge: Design a Beer Can. My design was inspired by the Egyptian goddess, Sekhmet. Here's her story:
As you enjoy this tasty pomegranate ale, celebrate being spared a gruesome death…
Long ago in ancient Egypt, the goddess Sekhmet was born by the Eye of Ra. She was a powerful and respected deity commonly known as “She Who Mauls.” According to myth, Ra became angry with mankind as they were not preserving balance and justice in the world. As punishment, he sent Sekhmet down to Earth where she began her rampage. The fields and deserts ran red with blood. Regretting his cruelty, Ra ordered her to cease, but her blood lust was too strong.
In an attempt to trick Sekhmet, Ra filled the Nile with red beer stained with pomegranate juice. She gorged herself on the "blood" and became so drunk she slept for days. Upon awakening, her blood lust had dissipated, and humanity was saved.
To pacify Sekhmet and celebrate being spared, an annual intoxication festival is held in her honor featuring beer stained red with pomegranate juice.
