Dottie AI — Spaced app

I also participated to @Dann Petty's Spaced challenge. Wanted to try something simple where I use no imagery and communicate a lot by text. I use to do a lot of illustrations or make use of imagery in my work, but I wanted to challenge myself and experiment with a more minimalist approach. Hope you like the result. Summary

The year is 2030 a new species has been discovered they are called Novark, big fans of space travel, the SPACED App serves both species. Dottie makes the experience feel human in a world of AI.

More about the world

Before interacting with Dottie in english or any other original earth language… Users need to identify as either a Human or Novark because Dottie will speak in the Uvzvark language otherwise. Novarks visit earth and do make use of our 2030 smartphone technology, who would of known they are so into selfies?

SPACED serves both sides, Novarks love space travel while Humans have been enjoying our services for the last four years.

Our AI acts as a real travel agent because in 2024 humans that used to have this job were replaced by robotic and formal AI. They were not very effective sellers and no one was comfortable with the loss of personality. In 2026 SPACED came up with Dottie. An artificial intelligence with real personality A.I.R.P.

Communicating with Dottie AI

You can only talk with Dottie when looking at the screen as you would speak in front of a human travel agent. It’s designed in such a way that it doesn’t listen when you speak to someone else.

The dots actually sends signals based on what words you speak so they communicate visually with the centre dot on Dottie’s avatar. Think of it as Morse code.

If Dottie knows you are looking at the screen but you don’t respond back in 60 seconds it will give you the option to respond by typing in case you can’t talk or unable.
