5280 Magazine Adventure Issue BackStory Illustration

Jumping to the last part of the project for the 5280 Magazine Adventure Issue - I was asked to come up with a way to show Six different stories of Super Humans who had accomplished rare feats either on or around a mountain on one-half page illustration for the backstory.

At first glance, I wasn't sure how I was going to pull that off so small, and that was before I learned that one of the guys was breaking the speed record for skiing while wearing a straight jacket and the other was a quadriplegic who had skied the most groomed runs in eight hours.

Six Stories, Seven Characters, Two Mountains, Multiple Ski Runs and a lift, A Bike Trail, and a Base Jumping Bridge later... Boom, Done! Thanks again to Dave and the team at 5280 for always coming to me with great ideas that make me push the limits of what I think I can do with a tiny monoline illustration! - TRON
