Monroe Street Poster
We all know that a house is more than a building. It’s more than brick, wood, or stone.
I illustrated this destination-style print of the historic house my father in law grew up in as a Christmas gift for him.
His entire family grew up in that house and this past month it finally got sold after Grandpa Baroni (his dad) passed away at 95.
I wanted to get him something to commemorate the place where he grew up.
I had the privilege of traveling to historic Natchez Mississippi several times with my wife and the rest of our family. The stories and history behind the house and neighborhood are too many to post here.
If you ever get a chance to drive through Mississippi be sure and visit Natchez! The city is a small but historic civil rights town who’s legacy can be traced back to my father-in-laws family who was a part of important events that helped win the battle for equality in one of the most segregated towns in the south.
A house like theirs was much more than a home. It was a place where world changers lived!
I had fun illustrating some of the details from the outside of grandpas 100 year old+ house.
