Well guys, I've slacked off the past week. I think it's been a matter of gearing up for the holidays and such, but it's really just been nice to take a break for a little while.

Belated winter solstice piece here (the Kanji symbols you see in the piece represent winter solstice), that I'm calling "Sunset Jelly" (サンセットゼリー) thanks to a few of my homies @highfivetho and my fiancée who all contributed to naming this piece.

I've been fascinated by Japanese Kanji, as I've been reading this awesome book about multilingual design that my fiancée got me, so I took this in a fun direction. It started as this amalgamation in Illustrator with a whole bunch of stuff going on in the composition, and then I realized I needed to simplify it.

All the textures were handmade in Illustrator, I used different mesh's / warps and things along those lines to achieve the wavy tentacle-looking stuff. Hope you dig it!
