The Ordinary Virtues

Part of a number of illustrations realised in 2017 for the Book Review section of Sir Edmund (De Volkskrant).

Created for Ignatieff’s book "The Ordinary Virtues", the visual refers to a particular interview the author conducted with a highly nationalistic Buddhist monk. 

Considering the brutal ethnic cleansing the Rohingya are now suffering, Western admirers and yoga practitioners were disappointed to discover that non-violence seems to be an easier concept to meditate on than to apply for Buddhists as well.
