Part of the system of empty and error state illustrations done for Scribd's 2016-17 rebrand project.

when a user has started saving content, the next step for them is to optimize their workflow. So rather than having a feed of 100's of titles, some finished and partially read some not even started- it's helpful to show them that they can organize their titles into lists like "sad about Christmas during summer" or "legal documents to reference later"- as this keeps everything nice and organized- and much faster.

The spot illustration colors were adapted to this more subdued palette to help further emphasize the empty/error user cases. I kept a single accent color on the focus element to help tie it to the context.
