Printmaking: William Blake

These letterpress postcards are based on William Blake's 'Auguries of Innocence', a poem condemning the disrespect of nature and wildlife. This particular couplet, 'The Bat that flits at close of Eve / Has left the Brain that won't Believe', shows Blake's passion for spirituality, depicting 'non-believers' as spiritually blind by the use of the bat, despite his dislike for organised religion. This print shows movement and dynamism in the way it has been printed in order to depict the behaviour of a bat in the night.
