Roomie, Roommate search app case study

Hey there!
What you see above is a set of designs I created as one of my case studies, Roomie, an app (or web) that helps the way people search and connect in the rental industry.

Problem: With rents rising faster than most American's income, more and more households are living with roommates[1] to split the bills with. However, the user experience, the act of finding affordable housing and a roommate, and then living together, has always been awful.

Goal: Users can instantly search for the roommate based on properties of common interest, mutual friends, and lifestyle preferences, connect through the in-app chat — all within one platform.

Approach: After conducting survey, interviews, some data helped me to define the scope of the feature, is that people do want to live with those who they have mutual connections.
Another significant connection to connect people whether they have same or similar destinated home to live together.

Result: I ended up with a clean and user-friendly platform that helps connect people looking for roommates in the metropolis. When onboarding, users can sign up by using their existing social accounts, their basic information would be input by just one click. Then they can easily create their profile focusing on their lifestyles and personality, which are strongly related to their roommate search.
