The Bible Unfiltered Bookcover
This book is the fruit of a scholar's faithful study and research, calling the reader to "approach Scripture on its own terms". For the cover, I was looking for a solution to show biblical text plainly, but in a way without being distracting. For a couple versions I blurred out the text or abstracted it to blocks, but they tended to look like redacted text.
Finally, I found a bible with a large center margin where cross references are normally placed. I scanned the page, styled the type to look just as a a cross reference would, and added some bible study elements as if Heiser had marked and studied the text himself.
The printed version has a great physical quality to it—the texture of the scanned page and the ink from the highlighter and pen really function well as tactile elements.
