It's name is acronym, social layer. The overall style of identity (the depth and translucency) was influenced by the idea of layers. The symbol and colors of this logo came from the shape of SOL token — hexagonal coin.

The coin represents the idea that users benefit from their attention and knowledge and all involved parties (users, third party developers, and the core development team) are equal partners.
