Trick-or-treating has roots that dates back 2000 years ago from an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain. It was believed that during the transition from one year to the next, the realms of the living and be dead would overlap. This allows the dead to roam the Earth again. Hence people dressed up as evil spirits or demons to fool the spirits that they were one of them.
