Narcotics Anonymous Billboard

A self-initiated project after being inspired by the combination of a photography project centered around the word HOPE and to openly speak out about the opiod crisis in Kentucky after a friend invited me to accompany them to an NA meeting as a supporter (someone who is encouraging the addict to get clean. Supporters are silent during the meeting because they are not addicts themselves, and usually are there temporarily until the addict finds and connects with a sponsor.)

This was an ad/poster series that featured the "White Keytag" that is given to addicts who have made the promise to be clean just for one day - their first 24 hours without their drug of choice. I took photography featuring the hands of those who had just gotten their white keytag, no faces were shown as I wanted to keep the spirit of anonymity.

Narcotics Anonymous does not advertise and relies solely on word of mouth and donations from addicts at meetings to keep their local groups running. I believe that if we could get a message LIKE this out and into the world it would keep people from turning a blind eye and making negative assumptions about addicts.
