Eastleigh v Hereford programme
I really love the old football programmes, where theres only one colour, really simple player drawings and very basic images. This is my modern take on one.
I've done more old retro style designs before so wanted to spin it the other way, by taking inspiration from the style and structure of old programmes (1920s-1969) and try to flip a much more modern feel.
As this is a one off programme cover for the FA cup I also wanted to keep the last 3 years of match day posters structure to it; blue background with a player profile shot (top of the chest, shoulders and face).
The background is the home teams shirt pattern. Then I went with a faint FA cup trophy in the background which I traced, finished with a really simple line trace of one of the players photos with minimal detail/shapes.
Finished with a much modern block white font.
