Orangutan

Due to habitat loss from logging, forest fires, human development, and palm oil plantations; both orangutan species, Sumatran and Bornean are considered critically endangered. They are also being killed for a variety of different reasons including, exotic meat trade, traditional medicines, and/or to steal and sell their babies as pets. Conservation work is in place to work with the palm oil industry to try and improve sustainability as well as encourage the conservation of the species and its habitat.
