All the government barbecues
Thousands of overpriced meals are being purchased by the Brazilian government with public money.
This is the core idea of a data-driven story by Rodrigo Menegat, journalist and dear friend of mine. We decided to help each other, so he plotted the chart and I visually improved it.
Every purchase made in a “churrascaria” is represented by a little dot, which gets brighter due to overlapping. The higher the flame, the higher the price. Some of these extravagant dinners, which costed above R$ 6.000 (around US$ 1,900, based in current rates), were highlighted in this chart.
