Design Systems

It's been a long time since I posted anything on Dribbble. This is generally for good reasons.

One reason is that for my first year at Facebook, a lot of my work was experimental, secretive Advertiser product work. It was a lot of fun, and hopefully some day I’ll be able to show some of it off to the world.

Another reason is that the work I do for my new team is mostly operational. It’s a lot of brainstorming, talking, negotiating, temple-rubbing, and reconsidering. This is the nature of designing systems and infrastructure, and I kind of love it.

I also get many more opportunities to think abstractly in this kind of work, and represent those thoughts through illustration. I’m not much of an illustrator, but getting more opportunities to exercise the muscle is paying off. This gif is a spattering of the illustrations I’ve used for internal communication and on my blog when talking about design systems.

My team is hiring. We’re working on design systems and tools catered to Facebook’s Ads and Business interfaces. We help teams help Facebook make money, Facebook’s advertisers get valuable customers, and Facebook’s users get relevant, interesting, and unique ads. If you’re interested in helping us with these problems, let me know.
