Pokemon GIF: Electrode

Electrode is split up into 19 unique layers, consisting of eyes, mouth, 7 different bodies, and a stationary highlight/shadow layer. I brought him from Illustrator into After Effects to animate the tilting of his body and "self-destruct" animation.

The biggest struggle was creating the quick lightning burst towards the end, which I accomplished by animating three circles (gold, yellow, and white) and applying a turbulent displacement effect.
