Loc Reference Tool - Netflix Localization Platform

At Netflix we work with language specialists (freelancers and vendors) that translate some of your favorite movies and shows in 25 different languages for 100M+ members in 190 countries. Those are some serious numbers! To create the best local user experience at scale for a global audience we had to rely less on third party software and double down on building out our own localization platform.

We have language managers, translators, freelancers and vendors that help localize a title. Managers need a birds eye view of projects while translators are closer to the ground to monitor tasks specific to their language or locale. The Loc Ref Tool provides both of these views. For managers, they can view the cards and see what's complete for a movie and show all the way down to individual episodes. For translators, they can use this tool to jump to other destinations in the service that provides them the right context (images, videos, prior translations) to maintain consistency in voice and tone.
