Automation + Customization
I recently had the opportunity to work on and launch a tool for Facebook Ads allowing advertisers to overlay information on top of dynamic product ads. Before this tool, advertisers had to manually overlay text on product images if they wanted to show information like price or discounts. For some, this could mean editing thousands of images. Not to mention they would need to be updated every time the price changed. Yikes!
Now with just a few clicks, advertisers can set up an overlay template and Facebook does all the heavy lifting, pulling the right info per product from the advertiser’s site and applying the visuals to each image. Thumbs up for automation! 👍🏼
In order for advertisers to adopt this tool, we needed to offer some form of customization. We wanted to give enough freedom so advertisers could stay on brand while making sure the interface stayed light and easy to use. We didn’t want a full blown image editor on our hands. I think we were able to strike a good balance for version one.
Excited to iterate on this tool in the coming months!
