Moths App

The Canadian Museum of Nature curated the Winged Tapestries: Moths at Large exhibition to explore the often-overlooked beauty of moths through a series of 45 large-format images by photographer Jim des Rivières. This impressive beauty, largely hidden due to the nocturnal nature of the subjects, is the foundation for a new traveling exhibition and a mobile application that will extend the reach of the exhibition across North America and beyond.

To ensure the content is accessible to the majority of audiences, particularly in North American markets, the application is available in three languages: English, French and Spanish. When one of these three languages is selected as the default on the user’s iPad, the application is automatically downloaded in that language for their convenience.

Winged Tapestries: Moths at Large is an engaging, accessible mobile application that can be appreciated as a standalone artistic and educational piece, or as supporting material for the traveling exhibit. It provides access to the exhibition content to audiences across North America, communicating the fine detail of its photography and the delicate beauty of its subject matter on a highly suitable platform.
