PlayTable — Playing Card Icons
August 2016 — I designed a set of playing cards for PlayTable, a digital game board platform. I wanted the symbols to feel contemporary while simultaneously paying homage to the 8-bit aesthetic of retro arcade games.
The icons at the bottom are 16x16. The forms are actually distinguishable at 8x8 (though the icons will never actually be rendered at this size on the device).
Each playing card is designed along the same grid as the suit symbols — even the face cards!
